بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Whatever program we initiate in our life, will be as per the Pre-Directed Guidelines of Allah, the Most Benevolent and the Most Merciful. (6:162)
ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ١
69:1. A catastrophe that will surely occur.
مَا ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ٢
69:2. What is that catastrophe?
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ٣
69:3. Who can explain it to you more clearly than Allah? So, what is that catastrophe that is sure to happen? It also explains why it happens.
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ وَعَادُۢ بِٱلۡقَارِعَةِ٤
69:4. According to the law of “Consequences of human action” laid down by Rabbu, especially for the developed nations like Samoodhu and Aadhu. What happened to those communities will happen again. The reformist instructed them to give up their wrong ways. They warned that they would face catastrophic destruction. But they ignored that warning and perished in that devastation.
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهۡلِكُواْ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ٥
69:5. There was a terrible earthquake with severe thunderstorms in the region where Samoodhu community lived. Thus, they became totally extinct.
وَأَمَّا عَادٞ فَأُهۡلِكُواْ بِرِيحٖ صَرۡصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٖ٦
69:6. A terrible hurricane swept throughout the area where the Aadhu community lived and destroyed them.
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَيَالٖ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومٗاۖ فَتَرَى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ فِيهَا صَرۡعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِيَةٖ٧
69:7. The hurricane continued for seven nights and eight days. It destroyed them beyond recognition. If you had been there, you would have seen only the remnant trees being thrown upside down being uprooted (54:20).
فَهَلۡ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٖ٨
69:8. Not even a single person escaped. It will not be an exaggeration to say that they were completely removed from the world map. Such was their miserable destruction.
What is the reason for that? Their stubborn nature is the cause of their destruction. So, it is not Allah's intention to destroy them but they are doomed because they ignored the warning given to them.
وَجَآءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَن قَبۡلَهُۥ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ٩
69:9. Thus, Fir’aun did seek his own destruction. And the same thing happened to many communities who had lived before. And as the community of Reformist Looth Nabi became involved in sinful acts, the towns in which they lived were turned upside down.
فَعَصَوۡاْ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ أَخۡذَةٗ رَّابِيَةً١٠
69:10. The reformist came to them with the guidance of Rabbu and to bring about social reforms. But they refused to accept their advice and turned to them. So, they were caught up in the law of “human consequences” that Rabbu had ordained.
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلۡمَآءُ حَمَلۡنَٰكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡجَارِيَةِ١١
69:11. But those who acted on the advice of the reformist escaped from destruction. The followers of Reformist Nooh Nabi in particular boarded the ark during the Flood.
لِنَجۡعَلَهَا لَكُمۡ تَذۡكِرَةٗ وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٞ وَٰعِيَةٞ١٢
69:12. The purpose of recounting Historical events that have taken place is to warn that what happened under the law of “the consequences of human deeds” prescribed by Rabbu may be a lesson to you. It is also for those who think and act with this in mind (12: 111). This destruction will befall those who refuse to accept Rabbu's guidance.
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِ نَفۡخَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ١٣
69:13. So, know what is going to happen when the alarm goes off at the prescribed time.
When the Quran was revealed, those who opposed the establishment of the Regime according to His guidance had to be restrained. In the ensuing war, the alarm bells rang for the first time.
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ١٤
69:14. Then the leaders of the tyrannical regime and their troops will be defeated. In a single invasion all their mockery, sarcasm, and transgression will be reduced to dust.
فَيَوۡمَئِذٖ وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ١٥
69:15. Such a catastrophe will happen to them.
Disasters can therefore occur in the form of natural disasters. Rebellions, riots, and war will also continue to take place in this world.
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِيَ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاهِيَةٞ١٦
69:16. The situation of the arrogant rulers will then change everything. And their harsh dominance will weaken.
وَٱلۡمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرۡجَآئِهَاۚ وَيَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّكَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ ثَمَٰنِيَةٞ١٧
69:17. And the rule of Allah will be established to safeguard the welfare of all people. That ministry will comprise eight cabinet ranks, and all the natural forces of the universe will support and protect it.
There are nine planets in the solar system including the earth. The other eight planets control the Earth's functions. Every action of man is recorded on other planets. The effects of those actions come to this earth after a certain period.
Note: In verses 1 to 12 of this chapter, there are references to the transgressions of earlier societies and the destruction that followed them. These things happened in this world. But in verses 13 & 14 it is said that the skies, the earth, and the mountains will be destroyed. When the Quranic rule was formed, the Quraysh fought against it and lost. The symbol of that ruler was the moon (Crescent). The Qur’an says that the moon was split (54: 1).
Because of the destruction of the communities that lived before this, took place in this world. That is, the destruction of the Croatian community took place here. There should have been a reference to it. But the earth and the mountains are said to be thrown away. (69:14) So direct translation of the verses seems to be a reference to something that would happen in the galaxy. With the scientific knowledge which we have at present, it is not possible to talk about the design of that revolution. So, we take this to be said in figurative form.
يَوۡمَئِذٖ تُعۡرَضُونَ لَا تَخۡفَىٰ مِنكُمۡ خَافِيَةٞ١٨
69:18. So, by the time the Regime of Allah takes place, you will all cease to function implicitly and act openly. Your words and deeds cannot hide anything. All secrets will come to light in the reign of Rabbu,
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقۡرَءُواْ كِتَٰبِيَهۡ١٩
69:19. Therefore, whoever has in his hand a record of good deeds, he will be asked to read it. They, too, will gladly read the notes of their activities on it.
إِنِّي ظَنَنتُ أَنِّي مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهۡ٢٠
69:20. They would say, “We had known for sure that we are answerable for every action we do and so acted accordingly. That is why we have stopped doing evil deeds.”
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ٢١
69:21. So their life will be as prosperous as they want them to be.
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ٢٢
69:22. The society in which they live will have all the resources and will be like paradise.
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٞ٢٣
69:23. Their economic facilities will grow fast.
كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيَٓٔۢا بِمَآ أَسۡلَفۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَيَّامِ ٱلۡخَالِيَةِ٢٤
69:24. They will be told to eat and drink to their satisfaction. It will be said that these are the rewards of the good deeds you have done.
So, Paradise will be available as a result of good deeds and will never be available on anyone's recommendation or donation.
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي لَمۡ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهۡ٢٥
69:25. Whoever has in his hands a record of evil deeds, he would lament with disgust, “These records should not have been given to me”
وَلَمۡ أَدۡرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهۡ٢٦
69:26. “I did not know that my activities were subject to answerable.”
يَٰلَيۡتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلۡقَاضِيَةَ٢٧
69:27. “O my bad luck! Is there no way out?”
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنِّي مَالِيَهۡۜ٢٨
69:28. “O My sorrow! My wealth and the arrogance I had for it are of no use!”
هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلۡطَٰنِيَهۡ٢٩
69:29. He will lament, “I was involved in such extravagant activities because of the wealth I had! But today my influence and power have completely vanished!”
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ٣٠
69:30. What is the use of lamenting like this? Will the law prescribed by Allah leave him? So “catch him and put him behind the bars.”
ثُمَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ٣١
69:31. Push him into the prison of hell which torments him.
ثُمَّ فِي سِلۡسِلَةٖ ذَرۡعُهَا سَبۡعُونَ ذِرَاعٗا فَٱسۡلُكُوهُ٣٢
69:32. Tie him up with a 70 feet long chain.
The size of the prison will comprise of 10 iron bars each with 7 feet high.
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ٣٣
69:33. This will happen to the one who engages in evil deeds without thinking about the rule of “consequences for human deeds” prescribed by Allah.
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ٣٤
69:34. Refusal of His guidelines also means refusing to meet the needs of the disabled who cannot earn a living.
He was under the wrong impression that when he had all the wealth he needed, what is the necessity of a regime that fulfilled the needs of the people. It is in vain.
فَلَيۡسَ لَهُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٞ٣٥
69:35 So now that he is in distress and is well aware of the need for a friend to wipe away grief. But there will be no friend to save him from his misery.
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنۡ غِسۡلِينٖ٣٦
69:36. He will not be given anything to drink except boiling water which would increase his thirst.
لَّا يَأۡكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلۡخَٰطُِٔونَ٣٧
69:37. Such will be the food for the offenders.
None of these things are said in imaginary form. Know that this is the oath of allegiance.
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَا تُبۡصِرُونَ٣٨
69:38. Examine any effects that you have come to understand.
وَمَا لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ٣٩
69:39. Or notice what is hidden behind the screen which would happen as per the law.
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ٤٠
69:40. You will know that the one who makes such solemn warnings can only be a dignified Reformist.
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَاعِرٖۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تُؤۡمِنُونَ٤١
69:41. So none of the instructions of this Quran are the words of a poet who speaks with imagination. These are the word of Rabbu. But very few accept these facts.
وَلَا بِقَوۡلِ كَاهِنٖۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ٤٢
69:42. These are not the words of the astrologer. These are announcements according to Rabbu's plan of revelation. But very few will use their knowledge and know the true nature of these and accept that these are all ethics of life that we must follow.
تَنزِيلٞ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ٤٣
69:43. All these are by the grace of the One Rabbu, who created and sustains all things in the universe.
So, they should follow His guidance and make efforts to develop their moral values and economy.
وَلَوۡ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيۡنَا بَعۡضَ ٱلۡأَقَاوِيلِ٤٤
69:44. There is not the slightest hint of human thought in this guidance which is the revelation of Rabbu. If this reformist had prepared a message on his behalf and said that it came from Rabbu,
لَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُ بِٱلۡيَمِينِ٤٥
69:45. He would have been trapped in the grip of Rabbu. And would not have seen any progress in his action plans.
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعۡنَا مِنۡهُ ٱلۡوَتِينَ٤٦
69:46. There would have been a decline in his morale and his efforts. That means his action plans would have gone dormant.
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ عَنۡهُ حَٰجِزِينَ٤٧
69:47. None of you has the power to prevent it from happening like that. All his fruitful projects will ultimately fail.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذۡكِرَةٞ لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ٤٨
69:48. Despite the clear evidence to this extent, many do not accept the true position of Allah's laws. Because only those who want to protect themselves from the path of destruction will be guided by this guidance.
وَإِنَّا لَنَعۡلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ٤٩
69:49. Some of the people are those who accept the Qur’an after deep study. At the same time, there are those who say that it does not apply to the world.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسۡرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ٥٠
69:50. But what is going to happen because these people are talking like this. Possible destruction will happen. Those who reject this will only write the hatred that arises in their minds.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلۡيَقِينِ٥١
69:51. This is the true thing that has happened in this world. This is what will happen. This is completely positive news. This is not a fantasy or a poem. This is Al-Haque-qua. That is the probable omnipotent course.
فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ٥٢
69:52. O Social Reformer! Ignore the criticisms of the people. Act wholeheartedly to get the fullness of your Rabbu's plan of action. The fruits of your efforts will throw light on the fact that your challenge is true.
Note - The diverse societies that lived in the world sought destruction by their own wrongdoing. They were disgusted when the reformist told them about the evil deeds and customs they were committing. But the devastation slowly engulfed them. The reformist was well aware of this and advised in many ways to save the people from destruction. They also refused to accept the warning that destruction was approaching because it was their custom to refuse anything. So, they were doomed to extinction. Thus, they are responsible for the destruction of societies, not Allah. The Qur’an repeatedly states that the same law applies to societies living today.
